About All Perfect Health
An honest introduction to who writes this site, why, and what you can expect to find here.

Who writes this site
My name is Dave James. I’m not a doctor, and I don’t play one on the internet. What I am is someone who has spent over 30 years paying close attention to how the human body actually responds to food, stress, sleep, and movement — and who has spent the last five years publishing what I’ve learned here at All Perfect Health.
My background
My working career has been in Australian mining and industrial engineering. Those industries taught me three things that still shape everything I write here:
- Question the source. If the data didn’t come from somewhere you can check, it probably isn’t worth trusting.
- Measure, don’t guess. Opinions are cheap. Numbers, done honestly, are not.
- Respect the variables. In engineering, small inputs cascade into large outcomes — the same is true for human health.
Why I started reading health research
I’ve been an avid reader of health, nutrition, and longevity research for over 30 years. What pulled me in wasn’t a single book — it was noticing how often highly respected experts contradicted each other directly, and how rarely mainstream health advice acknowledged that contradiction.
Over the years I’ve kept personal notes on those conflicts. Where one researcher says saturated fat is the enemy, another has equally credentialed work saying it isn’t. Where one cardiologist recommends statins for almost everyone, another recommends them for almost no one. Where one nutritionist warns against red meat, another treats it as foundational.
That pattern — qualified people disagreeing in public, and the public rarely being told — is what made me want to write honestly about health for anyone who’s had the same frustration.
Why now
Getting older has a way of turning reading into practice.
I can’t do the things I did in my 20s, and I don’t want to pretend otherwise. What I do want is to spend the next few decades with energy, clarity, and the ability to keep up with the people I love. So after 30+ years of reading about it, I’m finally putting that education to the test — tracking what works, being honest about what doesn’t, and sharing both.
Some of this is selfish. I want to be around, healthy and sharp, for my wife and my kids for as long as possible. And if writing honestly about what I learn helps someone else do the same for their family, that’s the best possible outcome.
What this site is
All Perfect Health is where I publish what I’ve read, what I’ve tested on myself, and what I think the evidence actually says. I’m particularly interested in longevity and biohacking — the overlap where nutrition, sleep, movement, stress, and measurable biomarkers all meet.
When the research is clear, I’ll say so.
When it’s contested, I’ll say that too.
When something is my personal opinion or experience, I’ll flag it.
What this site isn’t
This site is not medical advice. I’m not your doctor. Nothing I write here should be used in place of a conversation with a qualified health professional, especially if you are managing a chronic condition, taking medication, or pregnant.
If something I write makes you want to change what you’re doing, great — but please bring it to someone who knows your full medical picture before you act on it.
On sponsorship and affiliate links
I don’t take money from brands in exchange for coverage. No company pays me to write about their product, and no review on this site is for hire.
Some outbound links to books and products are affiliate links — if you buy through them, I may earn a small commission at no cost to you. I only use affiliate links for products I actually use or have researched carefully, and I disclose this clearly at the top of any post that contains them.
The rule is simple: editorial decisions come first; affiliate revenue follows, never the other way around.
For the full policy — including which affiliate programs I participate in and how I choose what to recommend — see my Disclosure page.
A note on contact
I used to publish a contact email here but it attracted enough hacking and malware attempts to make it a liability. If you’d like to reach me, use the comment section on any post — I read them.
